Lady Vols close out fall schedule
A bid for a second national doubles title ended Sunday for the top-seeded and seventh-ranked doubles team of senior Caitlin Whoriskey and junior Natalie Pluskota.
The Tennessee duo dropped a 6-4, 3-6, 6-7, decision to the No. 3-rated and second-seeded team of Hilary Barte and Lindsay Burdette of Stanford in the finals of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Indoor Nationals in New Haven, Conn.
"I'm very proud of the fight and effort both Caitlin and Natalie showed today," said UT co-head Coach Mike Patrick. "Today's outcome was not due to lack of heart, as they both gave it their all in every point."

n Maria Sorbello helped Tennessee's Lady Vols close out the fall portion of their tennis schedule with a home-court victory Sunday. Sorbello defeated Yevgeniya Stupak of ETSU, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, in flight one of the St. Mary's Tournament at Varsity Courts. In flight one of doubles Tennesse's tandem of Rosalia Alda and Zsofia Zubor teamed for a 9-7 win over Sasha Kulikova and Emilee Malvehy of Wake Forest, 9-7. Alda got a win in flight two of singles, 6-7 (4-0), 7-6, 6-2, over Paula Jaime of ETSU. Zubor won in flight three, 6-0, 6-2, over Kelly Holtzhausen of ETSU.
