Brimfield undergoes successful ankle surgery

Tennessee offensive tackle William Brimfield had successful surgery to correct an ankle injury suffered during spring practice, UT announced Friday.

According to head athletic trainer Jason McVeigh, Brimfield will be limited during summer workouts and fall camp, but he should be available for UT's season opener at UCLA on Sept. 1.

Brimfield injured the ankle April 12 during UT's final full scrimmage before the Orange and White Game.

The redshirt freshman moved from defensive tackle to offensive line during bowl practice, and the 6-foot-5, 320-pound lineman is listed as UT's third-team right tackle after spring practice.
